Odyssey: Driving Around the World was produced by Burgess Productions. The 3-person film crew consisted of Producer/Director Adam Burgess, Cameraman Colin McAuliffe, and Photographer Neil Dana (Mark Cope later replaced Colin from Alaska to California). A small discreet film crew was crucial in order to be able to film quickly and unobtrusively through foreign countries.
The film crew woke up before the Odyssey team and went to bed after them in order to capture every adventure that unfolded.
Filming in the extreme conditions was a constant challenge. Steamy jungles, dusty deserts and temperatures ranging from 126 F to -60 F exposed the Panasonic cameras and crew to horrendous levels of dust, mud, rain and ice.
The worst experience filming was the battle against flies in the Australian Outback during production of Episode 6. Producer Adam Burgess discovered that he could see through a sarong while shooting in order to avoid the swarms of flies.
The film crew vehicle, "D2", was the 4th unseen Land Rover. On the roof were 3 surfboards so that Adam and Neil could squeeze in a session every once in a while.
